First, ensure there is no “juice spill, ice cream or food stuff” sticking to the touchpad. Gently wipe the touchpad with a clean damp cloth, wipe or paper towel.

If your touchpad still doesn’t work, try these steps:
- Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the touchpad.
- Press the
Esckey several times. - Drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
- Turn your Chromebook off, then back on again.
Tip: If you tried the above steps or don’t find this utterly helpful, you can still reset your Chromebook hardware and resolve touchpad issues with a hard reset. In some cases, you might have to thoroughly wipe your Chromebook touchpad or restart the device before proceeding with the hard reset or reach out to a technician for further support. Perform a hard reset.
