How to Hard reset your Chromebook hardware
To fix some Chromebook problems, you might need to reset your Chromebook hardware; also known as hard reset
.
Note: When you perform a hard reset
, it will restart your Chromebook hardware (like your touchpad and keyboard), and might delete some files in your Downloads
folder.
On your Chromebook
Follow these steps below:
- Turn off Chromebook.
- Press and hold Refresh keyÂ
 + tap Power buttonÂ
.
- When the Chromebook starts up, release Refresh keyÂ
.
On tablets: Press the Volume Up
 and Power buttons for at least 10 seconds, then release them. If this step doesn’t work or if issues still persist; try this Power Wash.
If you tried the above steps or don’t find this utterly helpful or if you’re using your Chromebook at work or school, you can’t reset it. Ask your administrator to wipe the data on your Chromebook and re-enroll the device on your work or school network. or reach out to a technician for further support.
